Pckgr Now Automatically Applies ARM64 Requirements for Intune Apps

Deploying ARM64 applications into Intune has always required a bit of extra work. Until recently, Intune didn’t natively support restricting Win32 apps by processor architecture which meant admins had to rely on filtered device groups or manual requirement rules just to ensure ARM-only apps weren’t offered to x64 devices.

Microsoft has now introduced ARM64 requirement controls in Intune, and we’re excited to share that Pckgr now takes full advantage of this feature automatically, with zero admin effort required.

Why This Matters

As more organisations roll out ARM-based Windows devices, demand for ARM64 application variants has grown quickly. But managing a mixed fleet of x64 and ARM64 hardware has introduced new deployment challenges.

Previously, deploying ARM64 apps meant taking extra steps such as:

  • Maintaining filtered device groups
  • Manually setting OS architecture requirements
  • Creating and managing custom requirement scripts

With Microsoft’s new built-in ARM64 architecture requirement, the process is finally much simpler and Pckgr makes it automatic.

It’s live!

Starting today, whenever you deploy an ARM64 app using Pckgr’s automated packaging pipeline, Pckgr will automatically configure Intune to install the app only on ARM64 devices. This will also apply to ARM application already deployed during the next update.

This ensures the app is only presented to compatible devices, fully aligned with Intune’s latest platform capabilities.

How It Works

The moment Pckgr identifies the installer as ARM64-specific the pipeline automatically:

  1. Flags the app as ARM64-only
  2. Generates platform-specific detection logic
  3. Configures Intune’s OS architecture requirements
  4. Sends the app to Intune with the correct restrictions already applied

Final Notes

  • This applies to all ARM64 Win32 apps processed by Pckgr
  • No configuration is required from your side
  • x64 or x86 apps are unchanged, only ARM64 installers receive the automatic restriction

This update is now live for all tenants.
